Greek and Geography

Nick taught the boys again last Friday. 

We began studying Europe in geography today. After checking out our atlas, we read This is Britain. Cooper flipped through the book before we began, pointed out Edinburgh Castle and said, "We've been there. We saw Peter Pan at a theatre down here (pointing to the approximate location of the Lyceum Theatre)." He was correct. It seems he did not inherit my sense of direction.

Crafty Days

After school on Tuesday, Cooper not only helped me cook, but poured a bowl of soup for everyone and set the table. I was getting ready for church and had no idea he was doing this. 

On Wednesday, we painted paper plates:

Rhythm Down Under

Last Thursday, we learned a little about Kangaroos and Australia.

Then it was on to a music lesson on rhythm:

Nick took over on Friday. While Cooper worked on his reading lesson, Nick had Noah practice writing his name:

Nick also did some math, geography, history and Greek with the boys. 

The Pearl of Central Asia

We are continuing our study of Asia in geography. After reading about "Ways of Life" for Asia in general, we took a closer look at Kyrgyzstan. The boys viewed pictures and video of this small country which has been called the Pearl of Central Asia. We then briefly discussed the present upheaval and prayed for our friends there. We (translated: Blair) sang This is the Day the Lord has Made in Kyrgyz while the boys painted the flag:

Today, we discussed the layers of a jungle and colored a jaguar.

After gathering supplies in the garden, Cooper created a jungle habitat for his jaguar.

Vacation's Over!

We were on vacation last week and had some exciting field trips including Beatrix Potter's Hilltop Farm. This week, we got back to business. I haven't been up on blogging, so we'll do three days in one post.

On Monday, we worked on the boys' new 150 piece (what was I thinking?) world map puzzle:
