Mixing it up

Thankfully our little monkeys didn't paint the walls like Curious George:

Another beautiful day called for romping outdoors and a picnic lunch:

After reading The Three Billy Goats Gruff, the boys each made a billy goat:

and then acted out the story:

The open door behind Cooper is that of the troll:

There are no photos of the actual performance, because the photographer was needed to play the part of the ugly troll.

In science, we learned about shadows:

Recess

Cooper has been interested in exercise and decided to create a workout zone. He drew pictures to demonstrate the various apparatuses:

Caleb has difficulty with the tricky and highly technical sword step:

This is only a selection of the equipment and exercises. There is also a rest zone and refreshments are available.  If you would like to experience a truly unique workout, come on over. Fees can be paid per visit and monthly memberships are available. A personal trainer is highly recommended. 

It's all Greek to me

Cooper began Greek this morning. I am NOT the teacher. Nick will be handling this one. This afternoon I overheard Cooper teaching Noah the Greek alphabet. I guess the lesson is sticking for now.

After studying Ancient Greece, the boys "painted" their own Greek pottery.

The wee man joined us for snack.

Adventure is out there!

We continued studying South America in geography and did some reading from Tintin's Travel Diaries: The Amazon and the Americas. 

Cooper is cutting a string (2 ft long) to demonstrate the tongue length of a tamandua, or Amazonian great anteater.

Cooper painted and glued feathers to his Macaw.

Noah chose to paint only. He's definitely been favoring his left hand...perhaps another southpaw in the family :)

Caleb loaded and unloaded our number cards into his tractor's trailer.

There's something fishy going on in here

Noah is our unofficial band leader. 

I think he just likes to say, "One, two, three...hit it!"

After our noisy rendition of the alphabet song and a letter hunt,

it was time for some fishy fun:

This activity involved coloring, cutting, glueing, and some basic math.

We discussed fish facts and used the boys' Tag Reader to look more in-depth at Piranhas, Tuna, Leafy Sea Dragons, Batfish, and Clownfish:

School Outdoors is GREAT!

We started school a bit early today, because we wanted to take advantage of the awesome weather. The boys finished their lessons and headed out back for snack and some writing practice.
