Preschool Progress

I'll play catch-up on the blog for a few days (hopefully!). Here's a glimpse at some of Caleb's preschool activities of late. We've been working through the alphabet.

Cutting out pictures that begin with "a' to glue onto his "Aa" sheet.
This activity is repeated with each letter.

We read Good Night Moon and did several related activities.
Here, he's counting stars and attaching the corresponding number. 

His "a" craft activity was a partially eaten apple.
He's adding fingerprint seeds to the apple core.

We read Brown Bear, Brown Bear to go along with our "b" studies.
This was a fun, graphing activity. Caleb graphed each roll of the dice. 

We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Caleb made his own caterpillar.

Noah worked with Caleb on sequencing events from The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Doesn't that cat have a lovely "c" tail?

Nature Walk

We hosted French 2 weeks ago and went on a nature walk / scavenger hunt after lunch. Here are a few snapshots from the nature reserve...

All of the boys, especially Lyam and Cooper, were very busy rearranging these branches.

Phoenician Bread and Glass

Last week, we studied the Ancient Phoenicians in history. Here are some photos that I failed to post. Incidentally, the bread was made on the same day we watched Bama win the national championship. The individual breads were a great part of our game day spread.

Preschool, Plagues, and Feet

Caleb has enjoyed using his new numbers workbook.

 After reading our history lesson on the Ten Plagues, we read the account from Scripture. The boys added (and removed) the appropriate plagues throughout the reading.

Cooper places the "Nile turned to blood."

Noah and Caleb added frogs. 

Cooper uses his feet to measure the hall rug. He then measured in feet using a ruler.

Conifers and Composers

We learned about the seeds of conifer trees.

We have 2 pine cones. One was heated in the oven until it opened. The boys examined each cone, made observations, and dislodged seeds from the open cone.

Each of the boys have a notebook to compile pages about the composers we study. Originally, only the older two had a notebook, however, Caleb insisted today that I make him one.

We spent several weeks studying Vivaldi. 

We completed our study of Bach today.
