Caleb goes to University

University College, that is. Nick had to register and decided to take Caleb with him. He was a very big boy.

The big boys are ready.

Noah has started using All About Spelling. He really likes working with the letter tiles.

More Fun with Math and Meet the Wesleys

We've had a tummy bug at our house, so photos from the end of last week have been delayed. Here are a few glimpses at some of the boys' activities:

Caleb spent some time outdoors while his brothers worked. 

Noah worked diligently on counting by 2s worksheets.

Cooper diligently wrote spelling words that I dictated to him.
His written spelling work is all done in a spiral notebook.

We read about the Wesleys in our church history book and then supplemented with some reading from Hymns for a Kids Heart and singing "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing."

I really liked this math activity! Noah worked on greater than/ less than using hungry alligators.

Spelling and Painting

Cooper has relocated to the sitting room for some of his work.  The sitting room and dining room are essentially one long room. Still, he says there's less distraction in the sitting room.

Caleb worked diligently on his Pooh painting.

Work, work, work and a Nature Walk

I worked with Noah on his handwriting using chalkboards, and then Caleb did his own thing.

The little guys wanted to watch Cooper's tactile spelling lesson.

Upon completion of our regular activities, we went out for a nature walk. 

We used two activities from the nature detectives website. We looked for signs of spring (butterflies, catkins, crocuses, etc.), and we felt a variety of textures (soggy leaves; rough bark; prickly pine needles, etc.). 

And, of course, we had fun!

All About Spelling

We started using All About Spelling at the beginning of this term. I've been pleased thus far. Anything that uses charts and flash cards (organized in a box with dividers!) makes me happy. Ok, maybe not anything. I do like the program's thorough, well-thought-out approach. We'll soon move on to manipulating magnetic letters...very exciting.
